Garforth Villa Girls Meet Leeds United Women's Captain

Garforth Villa Under 12 Girls have been keeping spirits high through the latest lockdown. Weekly zoom calls with quizzes and games trying to bring some normality to their weekly “training slot.”

Last month they were lucky enough to have a special Q&A session with Leeds United Women's Captain, Bridie Hannon.

We asked the girls to all come prepared with a few questions to ask Bridie and they did not disappoint. With questions ranging from when did you start playing to do you eat McDonald’s, it’s fair to say Bridie covered a fair few topics!

Bridie spoke to the girls about what it’s like playing for the team she supports and the hard work that goes into playing at that level. The girls were given a few insights into training routines and what and when to eat before matches.

She also talked about how tough it is when you first start playing and encouraged the girls to not think about mistakes they may make in a game. Bridie talked about focussing on the simple things like getting the next pass right or having a shot on target and building up your confidence slowly!

The girls seemed to really enjoy the insight from Bridie and with the offer of her and a few other players coming to watch the under 12’s when we can get back playing everyone left with a big smile on their faces.

A big thanks to Bridie for her time with the girls and from the coaches for sharing some really great stories. Marching on Together!
